2020 should have been a celebratory year for The Scottish Fiddle Orchestra. We’re marking our 40th Anniversary.

One of the highlights was to be a return to the Music Hall in Aberdeen in May.

It’s “where it all began”, back in 1980.

Sadly as a result of the Coronavirus Pandemic our concert has had to be postponed along with many other events.

While the cultural impact of the pandemic is disappointing the loss of life and suffering is tragic.

We should not overlook the continuing impact of other diseases.

Among them, cancer.

These diseases have not gone away.

Marie Curie are our charity partners in Aberdeen.

Thanks to the generosity of our audiences over the years, they have collected many thousands of pounds from bucket collections at our concerts to support their fantastic organisation in providing care in the Grampian area.

Marie Curie provides care and support for people who are dying or living with a terminal illness, as well as their loved ones.

As the pandemic unfolds, their nurses and hospices are needed more than ever to keep caring for dying people with and without coronavirus.

Unfortunately, the current lockdown restrictions have had a huge impact on their fund raising activities just at the time their hospices and community nursing services are needed more than ever as part of the national coronavirus response.

Their income has been decimated.

As a consequence, Marie Curie have had to launch an Emergency Appeal to raise the quarter of a million pounds they need every week to run Scottish services (£2.5 million a week across the UK).

You can donate to the Marie Curie Emergency Appeal via the SFO’s JustGiving page which was set up for that purpose HERE.
