The Scots Fiddle Festival (17 – 19 November 2017) is over for another year but what a fantastic weekend of music, workshops and sessions the 21st festival proved to be.

Given that some of the musicians now appearing on the main stage originally attended the festival as children along with their parents, it’s understandable that the event has a real “family” feel to it.

Newspaper reviews in The Scotsman and The Times had glowing praise for the concerts, artists and organisers.

Much of the talent on display was home-grown.

The Scots Fiddle Festival celebrates 20 years of sharing and promoting the Scottish fiddle tradition – in Edinburgh, over the weekend of 18-20 November 2016.

Since the first one in 1996, the festival has grown steadily in size and reputation.

It was crowned ‘Event of the Year’ at the BBC MG Alba Scots Trad Music Awards in 2012. This year sees more than 40 musicians presenting 50 separate events.

What must be about the 19th annual Scots Fiddle Festival takes place in Edinburgh over the weekend of 21st – 23rd November 2014.

Run by Scots Fiddle Festival Ltd, a registered charity, it is a feast of fiddle music, with concerts, workshops, ceilidhs, recitals, talks, an “open stage”, sessions and stalls.

The festival’s committee are all volunteers and they put their heart and soul into the organisation. They deserve congratulations for bringing together another international cast of performers for the evening concerts – this year, extended to three nights (adding Sunday). [Read more…]
